Fitting proper door locks- ones with keys!

Postby Illiterate_husband » Wed Nov 25, 2015 8:59 pm

Hello.
Right, on my transit, mk6 350, all the locks are mental. The central locking doesn't work. That's ok though I don't trust central locking anyways . The rear door I can lock with a key but can't unlock with the key. Sliding door, hasn't got a key hole so I can only lock it with the round turny knob near the rear of the door. And the passenger door also has no key hole.
What I would like is to fit a set of normal locks. That work with a key, I want to be able to lock/unlock all doors from inside and outside- like on my smiley ☺️
I'm not scared of drilling holes or anything even using household lock.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's possible, there are key locks available for all doors, but it'll not be cheap as you'll have to change the latches to suit

Check the two inline fuses next to the steering column , you might be lucky and fix your central locking.

I pulled them out my central locking was being me a dick, I'd lock the drivers door with the key and it would just unlock on its own.
I'm not worried about having central locking, it's going to be used as a camper I just need to be able to lock and unlock especially the sliding door from both inside and out. I can fit after market extra security locks but you can lock them from the inside and I'm a bit worried I might get locked it!

A dodgy pin switch is upsetting the central locking - it thinks a door is open.
