Air Con Retro Fit

Postby bikenut » Wed Nov 25, 2015 11:01 pm

Hi All, I have bought what I think is a complete Air Con set up from a 2005 135 RWD. My van is 2005 115 RWD I am not at all worried about the mechanical fitting of the parts but does anyone know how much of the electrical side my van will already have ?
Will I have to make a full harness or will there be plugs behind dash under bonnet etc
. Any help gladly received. Thanks.

It's extremely unlikely you will have any wiring unless your van has every other electrical extra

There should be fuses in the eng. bay and passenger fuse boxes and wiring should be there too but I am unable to track it as no wiring diagram

A/C retrofit can be done.

If wiring is already present. Its simply fit, plug & Play 8)
As done on my mk6.5 here  viewtopic.php?f=27&t=150664&start=585#p1368225

If wiring is not present at all or find it present on engine bay loom but missing from dash loom.
The missing sections will have to be added.

I can provide wiring diagrams if requested. 8)

Thanks for the replies guys.
Paul that's a great thread on your van.
I might take you up on the offer of a diagram.
The guy I got the a/c gear off still has the harness could you tell me where the under bonnet section plugs into the van so I can try and describe what I need.
Thanks Mick

Thanks 8)

There's 2 sub looms for A/C. Both you will require

One is for interior heater assembly with A/C & plugs into dash loom (same point where you existing non A/C heater assembly loom plugs into). - Shown below

2nd sub loom is for clutch on A/C pump & lower pressure switch. If your mk6 already have main A/C wiring present. Plug for this 2nd sub loom is on main engine bay loom located near O/S headlamp unit.
Also at that point you should also find plug for pressure switch mounted on accumulator. - Shown below

Plug for coolant shut off valve vac solenoid is also on main engine bay loom on O/S next to bulkhead by brake servo. - Shown below

Bikenut , where are you putting condenser? I ask because my van has it under floor but doesn't cool well and wanting to put it up front, if it will fit?

Air con is the one thing that I miss in my van - I'd love to retro fit in to the mk7

Uhhhg  aircon fitted to a front of MK6. Great stuff Paul.

I will give that a go this winter - Any spaceissues with bonnet latch? Does fan fit on front too? Pic would be nice.

theres loads of room, fan fits on rear of coolant radiator

Also as yours is RWD you will also have to fit the correct coolant radiator (wider on RWD with AC)
