Wiring reversing cam mk7 problem

Postby shicko » Sat Feb 06, 2016 7:03 pm

Hi

had a good old look on forum and other places but can't find solution to my problem.

I am fitting a reversing cam (reg plate light conversion type)

the problem i have is getting the cables through the cable channel from the back door to the brake light piller, all the guides i have seen show a flexible rubber boot which you draw the wires through.
My 2012 mk7 has a stiff black tube with no way of getting the rca (video) connector through, anybody have any ideas or do i need to splice the Rca cable.

You'll have to chop it and thread the cable through :-(same with the power cable.

I added mine to the top next to the 3rd tail light.

Lots of fun :-)

Like loot it's possible but only with the plug taken off o brought 10m of cable and some solderable ends ran the cable where I wanted it and then added the ends afterwards
just follow the onscreen instructions and it's fairly idiot proof...trouble is, we keep producing better idiots

I (carefully) sliced the tube open, ran the cable through, then taped it back together. Much easier than trying to join cheap Chinese cable.

Oops:-( the problem with the conduit is that it catches then creases over and eventually damages the wiring, hopefully you won't have that but atleast it's the passenger door.

I use a 2.4ghz wireless system in mine...works fine. Transmitter lives on the inside of the left rear door, receiver is behind the radio...it just means I get no wiring issues..

Sold that van now Loot, but I made sure I had plenty of cable slack either end and I constructed a guid rail for the conduit to run in so was all ok.

Nah, fitted the camera as was planning to keep the van, but got fed up with only being able to do 50mph everywhere, so upgraded to the latest beast.
Someone else's problem now...

Bugger! That's what the 4 & 5 were for. I thought that was for how many passengers were in the van. Only ever carried the wife and 2 kids so never needed more!
