what do you mean by 'constant boosting noise' ?
as in you can hear the turbo spool up and hear the high pitch whine?
or is it more like a hiss?
I've had the 2 inch hose that runs down the front of the engine split once that resulted in powerloss with air escaping from a big vertical split.
after finding out the price of a new hose I decided to wrap it with duct tape and a heap of zippy ties
sorry to hear you still have ongoing problems Jason
just keep thinking positive mate, once you've got this sorted your engine will be practically new and you should get quite some life out of it (unless you burn it beforehand lol)

May be able to borrow one from my local scrappy but then chancing another faulty one.
Might I just be best to buy new?

Turbo noise, hard to tell. Just sounds like any throttle any revs you can hear the turbo working. But I think the noise is a small part for now as the turbo to intercooler pipe is running with oil. All the extra oil pressure I've now got is showing up worn turbo seals, coupled with white smoke from 3k up under acceleration and I think it's new turbo time :-(.

Should all four injectors run pretty much in sync? This shows how no.3 generally runs in comparison to the others.
Could this be an indication of a air leak between the pump and injector 3?

Can anyone describe what Noise the timing solenoid would make if getting noisy, and would it only be present on acceleration?
Sounds to me like piston slap, kind of rattly under acceleration or if you blip the throttle while stationary.

Would anyone say that sounds like timing solenoid on my video?

Maybe be a good time to go to someone who knows these things, Getting a diagnostic like this is going to be scetchyh at best. Why not try van tuner on here, don't know his name or have any experience with him but he seems to get allot of good publicity, gotta be better than wasting money on stuff you don't need or risking major damage after all you have done... 8)

Having had that exact problem with my van a bit more than a year ago, it definitely sounds like that.
It was a prick of a job to fix too with the pump still in the car.
One of the screws holding the solenoid in is invisible, had to be removed by touch.
I ended up scoring a second hand one and installing it but I don't think the original solenoid actually failed but rather the insulation on the two wires coming of the solenoid up the back of the pump had disintegrated causing them to short out.
Maybe to rule out or check you could try to wriggle the wires (to stop the short) and see if it returns to normal idle.
If you do find the solenoid wires to be the fault maybe rather than replacing it you could try to snip the connector of the wires and slide some heatshrink over the wires before soldering the connector back on. Mind you the wires are very short and don't have all that much slack in them if any so this could still be hard.
Good luck Jason. :)

Thanks for the info.

I wonder if the solenoid would cause the air leak and the lack of power?

The video shows idle sound but you only hear once moving under acceleration, then it's quite clear too.

In mornings it still starts first time but is rattly/knocky.
If you don't let it idle for around 5 minutes it will do one of two things.
1. stall if you Rev it.
or
2. What usually happens which is as soon as you try to pull off it will try to die, have to keep the throttle right down to the floor, it will splutter, hardly move, just about hold 1000 rpm then after around a minute it will clear, pick up and drive ok.

Does anyone know if air in fuel system would cause this problem when trying to start in the mornings?

So this morning it started instantly and idled ok as usual but when I revved it died.
This video shows what it sounded like trying to start it again afterwards. Not good. Any ideas what could be causing it.

Yes it sounds like the fuel is getting cut off, deffo spinning dry at the end I think.

Will it do this then randomly start up later no problem? That typically it's similar to being flooded tho, won't start straight away so leaving it let's it dry up, but I've only known that on petrols

Did you say the solenoid is leaking or anything? Or was that just a guess based on the knocking?

Engine running, but has diesel knock, reduced power & following DTC's below are stored - Faulty fuel timing solenoid

P0149 Fuel Timing Error
P1564 Injection Pump Control Module Requesting Reduced Fueling

Ford TSB

12/6/04 Noisy engine, reduced power, DTC's P0149 and P1564 set
64/2004 Should a customer express concern that the engine is noisy and there is reduced power, the probable cause is the fuel injection pump timing solenoid. With this concern, diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0149 and P1564 will be set in conjunction with a noisy engine. To rectify this concern, a new fuel injection pump timing solenoid should be installed.
