IMV - Inlet Metering Valve

PWM - Pulse Width Modulation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulse-width_modulation
In Mk6 PWM signal is using in many cases: for IMV valve, for vacu VGT turbo and EGR valves, for cooling fluid valve in back heater, etc...

There's no cheap or easy solution I'm afraid.

Yep, looks like it. Thanks all for your input, appreciate it very much. Im about as armed-up with symptoms as I can be before I hit the garage (sigh) - cheers guys.

Reviewed temperature and pedal parameters just before booking it in, just in case there were other clues, and there is one. See below. Note the spike in fuel temperature about 15 seconds before limp mode. Whats that about?

An update:
Finally found a shop I could trust and brought the old girl in. The contributors here have nailed it - all four injectors failed a leak back test, and the fuel pump isnt achieving specified max pressure at the top end. Got all four injectors replaced and going back for a new pump later on.

A quick shout out to Ray from Turbo Engineering (http://www.turboengineering.com.au/), for anyone living in Melbourne (Aus) I highly recommend him. I'm impressed with his professionalism - he kept me informed of progress all the way, and gave me options for the best-fix. This kind of work isnt cheap no matter where you go to get it done, but after this experience with Ray I'd say he's one of the best at accurately diagnosing diesel engine problem(s!) and therefore at lowest cost and inconvenience to you. Well done.

wojciech,
Thanks very much, exactly what I was looking for. I wish I could understand russian, but with some cross referencing between the (poorer) english version and the russian version I'll find what I need.
Cheers!

New injectors and reco'd pump now installed. The old girl is a rocket ship now, tested her up to 125kph & was still some thrust left. There's life in her yet!

No and yes. The pump was stuffed, with the injectors not far behind.
