central locking bounces all doors unlocked

Postby matchlesspat » Wed Apr 27, 2016 1:51 pm

I have just fitted a Mk7 front end to my 2002 Mk6 double cab flatbed,at first the central locking did not work but following advice from this forum I took the mirror off and joined the two earths together and connected to the mk6 earth pin,the central locking now works on all 4 doors, it's a double cab, but bounces straight open, it obviously thinks there is a fault, the locking worked 100% up to fitting the Mk7 doors last weekend, any ideas??????????????? I have a clue, the interior lights stay on, I normally have them off so it was not obvious at first, I thought I may have pulled the wire off the o/s/f A post switch but have drilled out the pop rivet! to remove the switch and it is all connected, I can only see one door switch, any idea why the interior lights are staying on, that is probably why the locking bounces, Pat

It sound like the door ajar switch thingy inside the lock, it thinks there is a door not closed or it could just be the plug isn't on the lock properly on one of the doors. N

Door ajar switches are built into door lock assembly.

Have you fitted mk7 doors with door locks that came with them ?
If so then possibly a faulty lock assembly.

Remove door locks from old mk6 doors.
Unplug mk7 ones & plug mk6's in. Use a screw driver & latch both locks closed.
Used remote central locking fob (if you have one) & lock doors
If they lock & stay locked. You can either replace both door locks.
Or find the faulty one & replace it.

Update, if the interior lights are set so they come on when the door is opened they flash on when the locks are operated, I have test fitted both Mk6 locks to the mk7 door looms and they still bounce when the locks are operated, and the interior lights still flash on, I am sure it is a difference between the Mk6 and Mk7 looms apart from the earth wires I joined together, Pat

A bit more info.... a mate connected it to a scanner tonight, found fault code B2477 module configuration failure?
and looking at live data it showed all doors shut until you tried to lock it when the left door flashed up as open just as the door locked it then bounced open, and all doors showed shut,
it was the same with the Mk7 or Mk6 locks attached.
The other strange thing is that the doors were reversed i.e. if you opened a right side door it showed as a left side etc. so the scanner showed a right door flashing open????

any ideas???????

F******ing fixed it, You do NEED to join the earth wires, pin 12 and 15, in the passenger side Mk7 loom to stop the locks bouncing or use Mk6 looms, I could not use Mk6 looms as the new doors had electric windows, old ones did not.............................

I had already joined the earths in the drivers side to get the locking working to start with.

I only had to do drivers side on mine. Although my mk6.5 does have hi-spec looms.
