Few questions about mk6 transit

Postby Steve192 » Thu Apr 28, 2016 9:48 am

Hi, I'm after some answers to the following questions if anyone can help. My van is a 2005 ford transit 2.0 85bhp model.

1) what's is the best brand of engine oil to use?

2) is there a seat that fits to the original runner? (Focus seat etc?)

3) can I just change the rear light lenses and fit clear indicator bulbs or do I need the complete internals?

4) where can I purchase a k&n panel filter from? Can someone post a link please?

5) has anyone fitted some of the plastic arch covers? (Please post pics if possible)

6) does the bulkhead out of a mk7 fit direct in a mk6?

7) does anyone know the part number for brand new front door rubbers? (Both sides please)

If anyone can help with these that would be great.

Cheers

Steve

The rear light indicator bulbs use an offset pins on the mk7. Mk6 has normal pins so you would need to use a motorbike orange bulb or get the bulb holders with the rear lights

I have some plastic wheel arch covers that I've ordered and am delighted with. Fitting over the next couple for weeks after treating some rust & will post pics but can already recommend them. What wheelbase is your van?

Cheers the quick responses people,

So 2 different answers to the rear light section? I ordered just the mk7 lenses! I also ordered chrome Amber flashing bulbs which said they were for the mk6. Surely these would work?

In regards to wheel arches, if you post the pics up once they're on that would be great. My vans a SWB

I only ask because they never made wheel arch kits for LWB vans but the guy a got mine off will adapt them to fit free of charge.

Like I said, I've not fitted mine because I need to treat the rust they will eventually cover up but I've test fitted and they fit perfectly & the quality is superb.

They are arch covers I've seen. They do look good. I just want to see a picture of a whole side of a van with them on.

Top man. Could you possibly send me a link to the correct bulb that would work in my original mk6 cluster?

You've inspired me to find some time, buy some stone chip and rope in some friends to attack the arches and sills. I'll post back when they're done.

New lights clusters arrived today. Unfortunately the drivers side one is damaged!!! Email the company and they have re sent me one, and I didn't need to return the old one.

Managed to find a bulkhead on eBay which was only 25 minutes up the road. Paid £35 with the speakers included.
