Transit 2.2 2007,

Hi , Son just bought 2007 2.2 tdci, on driving , nice tick over, but when at a speed of between 6o and 70 can hardly hear yourself in cab also when load put on acceleration black smoke is emmitted, and rattle any suggestions please.

Check the injector clamps aren't loose

Hi Loot, checked injector clamps, appear to be in order, van runs as sweet as a nut until it is put under load , eg, accelerate uphill then you hear the diesel rattle accompanied by puffs of smoke and noise in cab deafening, ticks over at an even 800revs, notice that egr has been renewed.

There's a few things that can cause it which need checking.

Injector copper washers.
Injector condition.
Prv/scv updates relating to fueling.(leak off test and correction factors check using ids.)
Egr.
Turbo and vacuum system.
Piston failing although i don't know if it is possible to have such a small crack that would cause this?
And other things like timing/tensioner condition, crank/cam sensor integrity, valve gear etc.
Also check map sensor is clean.

Scan with ids for fault codes that don't illuminate the warning lamp and live data.

Best i can think of off the top of my head at the mo.

Is tick over erratic at times? Does it ever stall? Is it easy or hard to start? Does it pull well? Etc

Hi Loot, should have come back sooner, had vehiclew chec ked out, you wqere correct, Knackered injector , vehicle szet back to factory resets fine now . thanks
