Hi everyone, turbo / power issues

Postby transitmat » Mon May 30, 2016 10:04 pm

Hi everyone first of all just want to say hi to everyone!

I have a 2003 2.0 diesel turbo transit - not had it long but it seems to be underpowered, used to have a 1.9 renault traffic which flew tbh but other than that a complete pile of crap so got rid and picked the transit up which im happy with as a workhorse and spacewise its great!

I can hear the turbo spooling but there seems to be no ooopmh not sure which horse power i have it just says t300 on the side is there a way to find out? My reg is yg03 yfb

I have inspected the pipes and all connections and cant see any loose / splits. I have also blanked my egr off but its the same.

I pulled a hose off the actuator to turbo and it still went the same so leading me to think turbo has gone or something along those lines.

Have a bit of knowledge turbo wise as i used to own a starlet turbo (glanza) swapped turbos etc so learnt a little about pipes vac pipes etc only a bit tho :)

Soooooo.... i might replace the turbo as its on 153.0000 now is it easy enough? And can you leave the manifold in place and just remove the turbo?

And will a turbo for a 100ps model bolt straight on? Might do that if i can :)

Can hear the turbo spool up but just lacks ooomph, as said when i disconnected the actuator hose it was still the same power.

It gets to about 60 odd 70 on motorway and stays there and then if there is a hill or incline it really starts slowing down and have to go into 4th 3rd gear :)

Thanks guys hopefully someone can help, cheers again - matt :)

Before you buy a new turbo you need to know the Ps of your van as the turbos differ.
Have you had the inlet pipe off the turbo and checked for movement, damage and excess oil, you may have a health turbo with a sticking actuator. N

Cant help you on the banjo bolt as never changed my turbo. You could try phoning ford they are usually very good with details of parts.
If you post your vin number maybe we can get details that way for you, your van could have had a private plate on. N
