Did you only clean the connectors on the bulb carrier or did you clean the inside of the plug as well,
Some people have just soldered the wires to the bulb carrier. N

New information:

Wondering if its the wrong bulb he sold me.
The bulb works as a rear lamp , but doesn't light up as a daytime brake light.
when I put the bulb he sold me in, it sets off the 'lights on, door open' sounder.
When I replace it the sounder stays off, but the lamp does not light up when the brake is applied?

Sound like the wrong bulb?

Plus
Should have read "when I put the bulb he sold me in, it sets off the 'lights on, door open' sounder.....When I apply the brake only"
The sound from the sounder is different from usual conditions......like theres a different resistance in the circuit altering the pitch.....That's what threw me
