Injector clamp bolts

Postby p.russ » Fri Jul 22, 2016 9:09 pm

Hi all I own a Mk7 2.2 fwd 85 and need to replace the copper washers on the injectors, after following some old threads about doing the job and how important it is to replace the clamp bolt, I went into my local Fords to just buy the bolts but the lad said the bolts had been modified and that I would need new clamps and black plastic covers, anyway I bought the lot, £62.00 later so I was wondering do I need these new clamps and can I just use the new bolts on my existing clamps, just feels like I have been robbed, got prices for the copper washers and rubber seal nearly collapsed...

Many thanks for any help

You can buy washers on ebay for about 5/6 quid for 4, Defo use new clamps and bolts, plastic bits not needed , at least not for me . Might be worth giving the injector seats a light scuff with a reseating tool. Some folk say you have to renew fuel pipes , but I have had mine of and on 3 times with no side effects. Change oil and filter. The fuel system is self bleeding when you turn engine over so don"t crack open injector.
