Engine oil

Postby Tom Cobbles » Sat Aug 27, 2016 6:51 pm

So I called into a motor factor shop and said I wanted some parts for my 03 transit van; 2 of the parts where engine oil and an oil filter
He asked for my reg and found my van on the system
The oil he brought out was full synthetic oil, I said hold on a moment the engine is 13 years old don't I need 10-40 oil, will the fully synthetic oil not just leek?
He said this is the manufactures recommendation, are but I said that is for a new engine

What oil should I use please?

And dose anyone who where my oil filter is located; it is a 2.0L TDDI engine
Thanks

That is the current recommendation from Ford, regardless of age or mileage. There is nothing to stop you using a slightly thicker 10w40 if you prefer.

OK thanks for that link
I guess it dont matter what kind of oil it is because no ones cares so just stick waste cooking oil in there; after all its just oil after all

Your reply suggests your not familiar with modern engines or oils.

Use an oil to Ford technical spec and of the correct grade for your climactic conditions.
mk7 08reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD
mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small
