Gearstick Bushing kit.

Postby ian.welch.9404 » Sat Sep 24, 2016 9:32 pm

Hi All,

Can anyone direct me to where I can get a kit to fix the gearstick slop?
It's like stirring soup.
Ford have quoted approx 55 pounds, just wondered if anywhere was cheaper.
Is this a straight forward repair, any diagrams or pictures how to repair this would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks for the info. Do you have any diagrams on the pinch bolt and the location?
Thanks

the e-bay kit is a good one, i have fitted it to both mine and a friends, even if you dont think yours is worn, you wont believe the difference once you have it in your hands

the thing that doesnt come in the kit is the bush that sits on the ball at the bottom of the stick, but thats £5 from the dealer (the figers break off on them as well as wear)

you have to take the bolt bushes out of your old one and fit them in the new one, and mark the old one where it sits and the bolts sit, as its adjustable, your supposed to use a ford tool to lign it up, but you dont need it, just mark it, although i have found just push it to one side and all is ok, if you get it too far one way you will loose reverse and 5th gears

when taking it apart and re assembling, bear in mind its a sprung assy, the grease will have dried out in the old one, use pleanty of grease on re assembly

as said, pinch bolts both work loose and my one had snapped, even if it looks ok, take it out and replace it, the shaft of the bolt severely wears, and eventually snaps, i replaced mine with a std bolt and lockwasher

you cant but the e-bay kit from Fords, they quoted me about £150 for a complete new lower stick assy
