Where to find info on van engine/chassis codes?

Have been buying a few spares for the van and sellers asking for van engine codes like this: FORD TRANSIT Bus (FD_ _ FB_ _ FS_ _ FZ_ _ FC_ _) 2.4 DI (F_B_ F_C_ F_A_)

Whats all that about?

Have had a search on here and keep coming up with fault code stuff in searches.

How/where do I find that info for my van?

The codes relate to the engine type code on the label on the left hand door pillar.

For instance a mk6 2.4 115 PS output engine is FXFA
and a mk7 with the 2.4 115 PS output engine is JXFA

The engine code the seller is listing is part of that four letter code.

Ok thanks for that, but how to whether it's say a D2FA or a D4FB both same year and capacity?

Thought I had seen a thread on here explaining it all but can't find it.

If you open the passenger door and look half way up the b pillar all will be revealed

D2FA is a 2.4 of 90 PS with egr and the automatic shift system.

D2FB is a 2.4 of 90 PS with egr

D4FA is a 2.4 of 120 PS with egr

I can't find D4FB at the moment.

Ok so when searching for parts on internet you get the variant options: FA _ _ (2000-2006) Box, FM _ _, FM _ _, (2000-2006) platform/chassis etc
Its easy enough to see engine type as its clearly marked does this above refer to the engine code also?

Engine code for the van is D2FB but the search options are arse first FB _ _ which I assume would be spaces for the D and the 2 but anyway it seems to bring up the relevant stuff
