I asked the dealer for "Super DOT 4 brake fluid", and they've sold me stuff that is marked as "DOT4" and "Ford Specification WSS-M6C65-A2". Is this "as good"/better, or have they sold me the wrong stuff?

This is the stuff you wanted.

Definitely says "super" on the bottle.
But I'd have to go out to the garage to check which fords spec it is.

Super dot 4 is essentially a racing brake fluid and has the same dry boiling point as dot 5.1 but a lower wet boiling point, like dot 5.1 it requires changing more frequently. Super dot 4 is also glycol based which is kinder to all the rubbery bits in the brake system, dot 5.1 is silicone based and will kill the rubbery bits. For normal road use dot 4 should be fine.

Actually, what I got seems to be about twice the price of their "Super DOT4"... :(

If I can get away with using standard DOT4, then I've got a bottle left over from my Mk5 days (and before you all throw your hands up in horror about water absorption, it's never been opened )

That'll work fine. Unless you have a "Racing Transit".

Super DOT 4 or DOT 4+ fluids are intended for regular use.
As you point out their boiling points when dry usually match those of DOT 5 fluids at 260 C but are well below those of true racing fluids at +320 C.

Yeah, it's a racing transit (as long as the race is to see who can be slowest...)
