Retro fit electric windows help

Postby edenboy-ragit » Fri Oct 21, 2016 10:31 am

Hi all.
Ive brought a 2nd hand window set up from ebay and trying to fit it.
Being a mechanic i thought would be easy.
BTW 2007 transit LWB hitop.
I have read there are several different types of window set ups. One with relay on drivers wiring loom. One with relay in switch (red switch) and 2010 on one.
Anyway i have the relevant fuse and relay in my fusebox already. Thought would need to just plug and play but its not working.
I think i have a 2010 kit maybe.
I havnt got a relay on the drivers wiring loom.
The drivers door switch has one electric plug for both switches.
The drivers window switch is black but the passenger one is red.
How would i get this kit working in my van? Would i need a different loom? Or switch? Could i retro fit a relay into this wiring loom?
Any help appreciated

I just looked at the wiring on drivers side.
I seam to have a 8v feed to one connector to the window switch.
I cant find an earth connection on it!

You should have 12v so either low power or part short?

Can you take a photo of what you have?

You need both sides the same.

I can look into this but I'm going to assume that the loom from door to door on all variants will be the same and that the earlier one touch with separate relay and the later type with it incorporated into the window switch are basically the same at the doors and self contained, i think they were changed only to save money.

Ray the op has a mk7, both mk6 and mk7 are similar except the power supply but also the mk6 kit has an extra earth when adding mk7 kit to mk6 doors iirc.

However, all you need is 30A ignition going to both doors from the same source.
Both doors ground at the chassis A post in the foot well @ 1 each side for each door.
The both doors pin 10 join at both doors.
Both does pin 11 join at both doors.

Simples.

Hiya.
Ok so i worked the problem out.
Very basicly a wire came slightly out the wiring block! Once it was fitted again it was a simple plug and play.
However i havnt been able to fit them.
The actual fitting of the regulators are different.
I have a 2007 mk7. The listing just says mk7.
I had 4 pop rivits on my old regulator, the new one comes with 2 bolts and 2 rivits.
The issue is these do not line up with the original holes from my unit!
Anyone had the same problem?

I'm pretty sure that mine was the same, but the holes are already there for the new regulators, just in a different place :)
