Postby Hattons » Sun Oct 23, 2016 7:23 pm

Hey guys, i've decided to create my own thread.

Right now i'm looking for parts to do service. Anyone know OEM part numbers of air / fuel / oil filters? Also i'm going to use Castrol W5-30 EDGE fully synthetic oil. How do you think this is correct choise?

Found out that 60A (glowplugs) fuse is blown and I think it's causing check engine warning. I need replacement one. Where do you buy them guys? Thx

You most likely need to replace glow plugs too . Don't replace only the fusiable link (wire). After all one ore more of glow plugs are shorted .
The internal carbon layer beetwen central rod and outside shell in time is burning away and do to vibration it will short out the glow plug .

Can anyone forward me where I can buy obd reader. I'm not sure which one gonna work with my van. Up to 100 quid. I want to make sure check engine light stays because of glow plugs. If so I'll change all glow plugs with fuse. Thank you guys for help

Changed the fuse - blown again. That means short circuit with glow plugs. Have ordered glow plugs now waiting for delivery. I hope everything will be ok while unscewing them

It will be stored in the PCM, normally you'll need to erase the codes to get rid of the light..... it "may" go away depending on what the actual code is. As an example, sometimes the EGR will throw up a code if it sticks a bit, but the light will go away after a few engine cycles or a couple of days if the valve comes good.

Some "generic" code readers will read & erase most codes, but they don't read pending or historic codes which live in the PCM's memory. IDS is your friend in this case.

I have one of these in my glovebox to read and erase common codes should a light pop up.:

However, as mentioned, IDS is the only sure-fire way of reading "all" codes, it even gives an explanation of what's causing the codes.

Get the engine red hot before attempting to remove the plugs.

+1...and give the glow plugs a goodly spritz with WD40 or similar while it's hot, the heat will help it soak down into the threads...no guarantee they won't snap off though...but will give them the best chance. I put a small amount of copperslip or antiseize on the threads when refitting new ones to help with removal in the future if required.
