I fitted the small LED flat panels in mine, you just need to wire them up with the black wire on the bulb contact, and the red on the casing contact.

Light should work, with the door open, in either the forward or back switch position, with the centre position being 'off'

I fitted these to mine:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2sets-l ... 39679.html

They fit almost perfectly inside the fitting. I just needed to cut away the top corners around the wire connections.

The other problem I found was that, if the bulb is missing, the switch tends to fall apart, because it uses the force of the bulb against the spring to keep it together. So, once I fitted the LED panel in, I put a dead bulb back into the bulbholder. Alternatively you can also buy BA15S adapters from the same website.

I've been meaning to take some photos to show the difference. At some point, I'll get around to it...

Oh, and from memory, the bulbholder is wired the "wrong way" around - the centre pin is earth, and the outer shell is 12 V.

OK, just to confirm, the overhead light at the front of the cab roof doesn't come on with the switch in either position, with the doors open or closed?

Assuming that's correct,
  • Does the overhead light at the back of the cab roof (the one that also controls the load area lights) come on at any time? If not, I'd suspect the fuse first, and then the wiring loom.
  • If it does, then I'd suspect either a dead bulb, a dirty contact on the bulb or a dirty contact on the switch. Take the fitting out, take some photos so you know how it goes back together, and then take it apart and give it a good clean. In particular, scrape any dirt/corrosion off the switch and bulb contacts.
