Given the design of those clamps, I would be surprised if anyone has a van that doesn't need doing at some point :P

Only one of mine was weeping, so I just did that pair, and all the bits are in the van ready to do the other pair

If the copper washers have been "hammered", it probably best to clean up the seats. If fact, it's probably best to clean them up anyway...they need to be nice, clean and flat for the copper washer to seal properly. There's a heluva lot of pressure trying to get out....any grit or crud will not help.

just priced up this job yesterday, plus some other bits.
local macrae & dick

Copper Injector Seals x4 £67.15 :o
Upgraded Clamp x2 £22.22
Clamp Bolt x2 £5.59
Rubber injector seals x4 £154.85  going spurious for these I think

And immediately said would drop 15% off everything. anyone suggest better options for these?

amazing how clamps and bolts seam reasonable but injector copper washers and rubber seals are a fortune!

Mate save your money :? Just get 2 bolts (they are identical on both old clamps and new clamps.

Copper washers are just that, 5 quid on eBay (it is the fitting of it all that makes the difference to how it performs and whether the clamps loosen off.)

Rubber seals won't leak if there's no pressurization so just clean them up and if you want put a bit of lube around the injector where it settles in the rubber.

Absolute fooking liberty it is charging 67 pounds for for poxy fooking copper washers :x what they made from? Scratches of skin grated from the scrotum of the main ceo of ford inc?

Aaaarrrrrggggghhhhhhhh!

And no it doesn't cost billions to design and develope them :?
The day i get roped into spending that kind of money on 4 little bits like that is the day after the day i sell it and buy a pair of roller skates.

Sorry.

I paid less than 2 quid each, for the bolts from my local dealer, copper washers were stupid money from Ford, so I bought a set of 4 for £5.99 from Ebay. It's unlikely you need a new clamp unless it's bent or broken, and you probably don't need the rubber/plastic sealing washers, but they're on Ebay as well 8)

I bought this set which has all the seals. A lot more than just a set of copper washers but I'm happy to replace the lot!

Just need to go ford for bolts now, do I have to use a torque wrench or can I just do the boys up to FT!!

I've only ever used a torque wrench for tightening cylinder head bolts, so I simply tightened as much as I dared, bearing in mind that these are long bolts and are much easier to snap than short ones. It's something that you get a feel for when doing it all of the time, and you need to use an appropriate length spanner, not a long breaker bar :)
