Van Not starting

Postby Jerseyi54 » Wed Jan 18, 2017 2:19 pm

Van - 2004 2.4L Duratorq DI (90PS)

Just stalled at a roundabout 8.00 this morning very embarrassing.
Now the thing wont start.
The engine turns over fine, have checked fuel, ok.
There should be a reset button for the fuel pump but I can't find it where it is shown in the hand book.
Also now the Glow Plug symbol is flashing, what does this mean.
Are there any other checks I can do prior to calling out the cavalry.

May have jumped a tooth or three on the cam chain..?? Throwing the timing out....not unheard of.

Don't know of any fuel pump "reset button" though. If your glow plug light is flashing, you'll have fault codes and will need reading to isolate the fault.

First thing to do is get codes read and take it from there..! They'll at least give you somewhere to start looking.

Or your fuel pumps thrown its toys out of the cot, I believe when a tddi pump fails it just stops working completely I could be wrong. N

The reset button is for petrol models only. It's an inertia switch. In the case of an accident it shuts the fuel supply off.

Thanks for the info.
Even though they tried to help me, the local Ford garage didn't tell me about it only being on petrol models.
I will get it into a garage and get it diagnosed then report back.

Hi all

Thanks for all the info

Fuel pump had gone, Trust Ford quoted 2.7K for the job.

Found a replacement pump and a garage who did the whole thing for under IK

I'm a happy bunny back up and running.
