Took prv off and fell to bits. So New one fitted along with New srv learns done and now runs much better.

Still have egr p0404 but thinking of having blanked and removed off pcm? Worth doing?

I'd just replace the egr.

I have replaced it twice now :-(

Now I'm get cylinder miss balance errors if drive for about 10 mins then I connect laptop while running ( different cylinders each time) but if I turn van off connect and start again they are gone...

Van I driving fine again now and pulls really well. So clearly the prv was causing problems. Could the pressure regulator on the other end of the rail need changing?

P0404 is range /performance so that means that the signal coming from the egr is partially implausible, which means that you need to fault find from the egr to pcm.

The rail pressure sensor shouldn't really fail but i think they are cheap enough if you want to try that.

If you have replaced the prv and scv for genuine valves and have done pcm update, fuel pump and injector pilot learns then that should be good.

Injector leak off test is required if you can't perform the pilot learn.

But get rid of the p0404 code first. (It may reset each key cycle but the fault will reoccur once the system relearns).

Learns all worked with the only issue being have to wait for it to warm up enough.

When on live stats what should the injector balance readouts be??

Looks like I'm going to have to strip the whole loom back to the pcm.... Happy days!
Its a good job I love Transits.

Thumbs up from me :-)

Mine were reading about 0.9 but number 2 was -1 and i swapped it and problem instantly went.

But i was getting a horrid tapping from it.

On yours tho its hard to say as you've passed the pilot.

Maybe sort the egr code out then clear codes and give it a drive and see what happens :-)

My figures range from 2 to -2 but it seems to swap cylinders... runs tidy now and pulls well. So not sure if the readings are right. I have a feeling it may be getting air at times as there is a bubble sitting in the fuel pipe coming out of filter. Doesn't move when I watch it but wondering if air is getting in somewhere? Change of filter those week.

PRV was leaking and making a mess of the yard. took apart, replaced washer that i did not know existed inside, went to tighten up the hose connector on the end and it snapped like i was spreading butter!

Well checked all the loom for egr and all looks fine. Watching live data it shows it moving up to around 4.5mm but still popping up p0404 with either stuck open or closed.

I still get cylinder balance codes across mainly 2 and 3 but occasionally all.
My cylinder balance figures are
C1 -0.771mg
C2 2.313mg
C3 -1.270mg
C4 -0.253mg

These look wrong to me? But I am not sure. I have performed an injector learn and it completed fine so not sure what is going on there. My leak off kit has arrived but I'm still a bit unsure how to take the leak off pipe off... any instructions would be great!

Depending on what year you'll either have silver tab that is 2 legs that you split apart and twist/pull the leak off pipe from the injector top, or you'll have green clip things that you remove that lock the leak off on the injector. Wrap ptfe tape out whatever around the leak off pipes so no air gets in and then insert the leak off test kit into the injector where it goes.

Tickover for 4 mins.
25-40ml is the range.

Cheers for that loot. I have the silver tabs. Will have a go on Sunday morning to see where I am with the injectors. The van runs and ticksover fine now just feels like it's under powered compared to what it was.

I will report back once I have done the test and then maybe I can get this sorted

Right done the leak off test

4 mins idle.

Left to right facing engine
Cylinder 1 40mm
Cylinder 2 60mm
Cylinder 3 40mm
Cylinder 4 40mm

So do I need 1 or 4 New injectors and am I right in saying 2 is duff?

Hard and fast rules for leak off fails are difficult to find.
The delphi injector tester manual says that there is not defined leak off limit, but that an ideal injector will not leak at all.
It is often suggested that any injector leaking more than 3 times the lowest volume is defective.

I have found this info http://fordtransit.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=180673#p1540736
mk7 08reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD
mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

Do the test again and be as accurate as you can and when you stop the test make sure you include the fuel that is in the pipes so unplug them and tip them up into the bottles which accounts for odd length pipes where necessary.

I've seen 25ml leak back on mk7 injectors so 40+ afaik is maximum, 60 fooked. But I'd consider replacing them all if it was mine :-)

Bloody expensive tho stupid ford/denso :?

Although good ones looked after should do millions of miles tho :-)

Unless i buy them :(

Second reading same results. So your thoughts are replace all 4...?

How difficult of a job is It removing the old ones? I think I can use forscan to do all the computer side of things.
