Re: Rear brakes MK7, 2.4 TDCI, RWD (and a general question)

Postby Kristianskaffe » Sun Mar 12, 2017 7:50 pm

I'm getting more and more concerned about the injectors.
Just read this viewtopic.php?t=178172 and if those readings are bad, then mine are shite! I did them the other day and from memory I had something like number 1 at +3, 2 at - 1, 3 at +2,5 and 4 at - 1 something.. I don't understand those numbers.
Is there a rule of thumb on what the value should be if all 4 is in good condition?
I'm kind of struggling, as I don't want to invest in 4 new or refurbished injectors if only 1 or 2 are bad.
I have found a place in Germany who is selling refurbished injectors at around 100 pounds but I've also seen lots of videos of people cleaning them. Is that something I should consider?

My problem is, that I can run into trouble if I'm to leave the van for over a week at the mechanic if we open up, and the injectors are bad.. (almost certain they are)
There is a 2.2. tdci at the nearby breaker, so maybe I could go for that, but they haven't thought of a price and I don't know if those injectors are OK. It's the van the breaker used to drive and it looks OK actually, but I don't know why they are breaking it.
If I am to wait for the refurbished from Germany it could take up to a week as the seller writes that they ship 1-2 days after payment is received...

Any comments on this is appreciated

Have a good evening!

With the tubes and stuff?
My mechanic has a set for doing that, but I didn't DIY.
My plan is to go to the mechanic one of the following days as I need a brake pipe fixed for the MOT and maybe the wiring to the foglights. As I think I've found two rear doors I need those fitted too.
I can live without the van until next monday, and if (I think it's quite certain) I need 1 or more injectors, then I need to decide what to do when the van is "down".
I have another issue, it just can't stay at the mechanic in his garage (he has only room for one car) so we have to open it up outside, because we can't drive it out with no injectors..
So basically I need new injectors right away, if it turns out that they are bad..

Or we do the leak our test to see what that shows.. Order 1 or more injectors from that result and wait them (or get them at the breaker) before opening mine..

Well, I don´t seem to have any tubes that will fit, and can´t see on the internet, that the local carshops etc. have them.
I´ll have to wait for my mechanic.

I´ve found this http://www.biltema.dk/da/Bat/VVS/Slange ... 000017745/ but it´s an hours drive each way, 10m. and 6mm. But it seems quite difficult to make it stay on the injectors... or will it stick if I heat it a litte and push hard downwards?
Guess I can use the same for blocking the tubes I take off, by pressing it over them and fit a bolt in it..

Any other way?

Multimeter on them should be about 75ohms iirc. 4mm outside diameter tube fits inside the injectors, ptfe tape wrapped around the leak off pipes works very well to blank them, run at tickover for 4 minutes and compare the 4 results 25ml min 40ml max but use your own judgement :-)

Cleaning them means replacing the nozzles and nozzle ends and pins ideality but that it's for a specialist.

Now... I really don't know if I should say this out loud.. In case of backfire.... (from the old van)

I fitted the new trailer box that arrived this morning.. And the turbo works! I have driven to the car shop and hour away and even with 4 stops it still works..

I have had many bad cold starts, but if I turn the key and warm the glow plugs 3 or 4 times it starts so much better! I've just talked to my mechanic and we agreed on waiting with the injectors until I get to him either Wednesday or Friday as he has the right toolkit.
He is on his way to the breaker to hear if we can come get 1 or 2 if it turns out mine are crap..

Is there a way to test the glow plugs with IDS? If not, then I'm thinking to replace them and then I might as well clean the intake manifold and the EGR and then get a 3 in 1 bonus.. Glow plugs and new intake gasket is about 150 pounds. Worth doing I think... And maybe it's not even the injectors as it was running really good on the way here :)

Ah Crap..
So the old wires and connection was all rusty and green... But Fitted in the new tow bar box it seemed to work.. But as bad as they were, it wanted the new connection with the new box (better shape, not new)
But ones the wires was totally eaten up by corrosion so I had to the same from the old and fit in the new..

I have put all the wiring together and to the best of my knowledge they are put well together..... But the turbo lag as back again... Sigh... Not as bad as before, but it's there... So a bad connection somewhere.. Fcking Canbus ;)

Actually...not that bad....1,2 & 3 are obviously fine...just 4 that needs changing...and even then it's just on the upper limit.

Well...
Probably the best day so far, as far as progression concerned.

I now have a completely cleaned manifold, intake and EGR (which was actually quite clean at first)
The injectors are fitted with new washers, both the rubber ones and copper. 1 is replaced with one from the breaker.

Pcm update done and injector lean successfully completed.

The aux. heater is now working as the (another one again!!) power line was totally corroded at the connection so I had to make a new wire bypassing the connection. The aux heater coughed 2 times and fired up! Yes!

Wipers are working again. It was also the connection... But they are not returning 100 percent... I'll look in to take.

Turbo is still not working properly.. It's electrical :(

I think this box is really messing things up. I really can't find any diagrams for it, so I hope maybe one of you has it?

With a new but used box, I got my turbo working far better than ever. But I had to change the connection as it was totally corroded. After that back to normal..

I can't seem to find out where it goes or if it is in a straight line back to the ecu or something.

I would like to measure/check a cable at a time, but don't know what each one is for?

Tow bar module.
If I take it off, my indicators and stuff are messed up.
