Indicator light

Our indicator light is on even when switched off and keys out of ignition? It did a funny thing where the right indicator flashed very quickly when activated and now it is on all the time.... any ideas? Thanks

If this is a Mk 6, which we don't know, because you never said, then I'd suspect the indicator relays which are located underneath the engine bay fuse box are full of water and corroded

Sorry I should have said it is a 56 plate. I don't really know anything about mechanics. I was hoping to get some advice before having to put it to a garage. Thanks again

Husband looked at the relays and said they looked fine? Could it be an earth and if so where would such a thing live! ?
