Oil Cooler leak

Postby Seatz » Mon Feb 20, 2017 8:43 am

Hi there,

Just bought a MK6 2005 2.4 115ps T350 LWB Van and it came with a free oil leak. :(
Had a better look after degreasing everything and it seems to be dripping from just above the oil filter housing.
it starts dripping about 2 minutes after i start the engine and drips quite regularly and fast (about 2 drops of oil a second)

I haven;t driven the van much but if the guy that sold it too me topped up the oil before he sold it it means it would have lost as much as 2 Liters of oil after driving 400km.

after looking on this forum i believe it;s the Oil cooler.
Do i need to take it all of and replace only the gasket or the whole oil cooler unit,
looking at thishttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OIL-COOLER-RA ... 1428760040 i can't see how that fits too the oil filter housing?

The van has done 365.000 km so is it better to order the whole unit or should the seal itself do the job?

Here's a photo of the oil leak:
