mk6 ,2.4tdci wont start

2005 transit engine blew up , so purchased a low mileage replacement complete with ecu and key transponder , from running donor ?.It wont start ? fires while turning over ,but doesnt keep running .Plenty of fuel in tank & injectors are spraying .I know it prob needs plugging in to read any codes , but my readers wont link up.Any ideas b4 i send to a garage .

It can be hundred reasons, so you need read errors. However first check is it correct fuel pressure on rail. When you crank engine, it must be 350 bar +/- 50 bar.

Is it a tdci (135 Ps) or tddi (125 Ps or lower) ?. N

if tdc crank sensor is disconnected , it doesnt fire .fuel pressure ok .

Sorry to hear that :wink: I would be checking everything is plugged in and no broken wires, check the crank sensor, cam sensor, cht sensor etc, if it was running ok in the donor vehicle and not now it could just be a case of a loose/no connected plug. N

Could it not just be air in the fuel system as that's all that's been disconnected and reconnected
