Mk7 - fitting extra speakers

Postby pusd » Wed Mar 22, 2017 8:50 pm

Since fitting some seats to the rear of the van, it would be nice to have another pair of speakers in there.
The question is;
Does the standard cd radio have another set of speaker outputs? If so where are the l/r speaker wires to be found?
Failing that, is it feasible to splice an extra run of speaker cable into the existing speaker wires to run into the rear?

Any pointers appreciated.

Yes there are speaker outputs, easiest way is to run new cables to rear of stereo
If you want the fader function to work you need some one with ids to reconfigure it to 4 speakers in vehicle configuration

Brill, thank you.
Is it clear which are the l/r, +/-?
Is there a sub loom from the rear of the unit or do I need pins to fit the multi connector?

Cheers Phil

Ok, thanks.
I did check the faq's but must have missed it.

Having had a quick browse, it seems as clear as mud!

Done some digging today.
Found the speaker wires out of the radio, Ford have kindly twisted & taped them into pairs ;)

I'm not quite sure which is the big white 57p connector that allegedly takes the wires & didn't want to split the loom looking, In the rear of the van, I located the left & right wire pairs & eventually found their speaker plugs.

The question is which bit of the loom needs to be 'patched' to fill the missing link?

Lack of response so I may aswell add a final bit & close the thread.

Ford speakers simply plug straight into the rear speaker sockets and work perfectly, no need to go behind the radio or bridge the 57p connector.

The fader doesn'twork so must need activating (I won't bother)

I don't see how people have so much trouble locating the illusive 57 pin connector?

Clearly your van has the complete loom for rear speakers, that's fairly rare.

Lack of response?
What more than all the info above do you need? Someone to come and do it for you?
