MORE PROBLEMS

Postby leetheedge » Fri Mar 24, 2017 4:59 pm

HI GUYS BACK AGAIN WITH YET ANOTHER PROBLEM..

when I turn left around a corner I hear an intermittent scraping/creaking noise. ( usually 3 or 4 times )it only happens when I turn left..when the van is static and I turn the wheel there is no noise. it seems to be worse when ive got my clutch in or when I freewheel it.

I phoned the garage and they said its probably the lower ball joint cover catching the disc,,im not totally convinved thou as on inspection the cover doesn't look that close to the disc..any advice would be great.
cheers

Check it's not the tyre rubbing on the mudflaps, mine does this turning left.

bit of an update..sounds more like a scraping noise rather than a creaking noise now.only when I turn a tight left.

Check your wheel bearings, when mine was going it made a clunking noise when turning. N

ok will do thanks.. the last time I had bad wheel bearings there was a loud hum and no scraping.

I am getting a slight hum at the moment when I turn to the right slightly..probs bearing.. but the scraping noise is at the drivers side.

Scraping is probably a wheel bearing, creaking will be dry balljoint on the Arb drop link

Jack up, lock to lock, big bar in the wheel to.put some weight on it and give it some in every direction ?

So it just happens when you're driving? Not when its parked up ?
How very strange :?

Check the brake pads as if they are low they can cause a scrapping noise when going around a corner..

Does your brake pedal travel further after the noise? If so wheel bearing.
