electrics

Postby lou k » Fri Mar 24, 2017 5:41 pm

Hi everyone. Wasn't sure where to post my hi I am new bit. So doing it here!

I am now the proud owner of a 2010 ford transit tourneo. 3 seats removed at the back and dog cages fitted to be able to transport my 6 dogs.
I have had the van a week. Firstly the trip distance randomly resets itself. And now the info on the dash keeps saying the drivers rear door is open when its not. I could live with it but the alarm goes off when I lock it and the beep that comes with the info light! The only thing dofferent I have done today is disconnect the plugs from the floor lights as I was leaving the boot open today with a vent lock for the dogs as it was warm and didn't want a flat battery. Any ideas. Could it be that? I will try with them back in and see.

Also any one any good ideas to blank out the rear windows to keep the heat out?
Thanks for any help/info. Lou

Brill. Thanks. So its not a major worry with clocks then. It doesn't really make much difference to me so I will wait til I need to take it to the garage. Sorry for sounding thick but whats an ids? I will google in a min sonif you don't see this for a while hooefully I will have figured it out by then!! Lol
Re the door switch. (Its the drivers side sliding door. Do you know what parts I need? Is it the 3 pin bit on the door or the plate on the body or both. Then get the wiring checked? How easy a fix is it if its the wiring or can I by pass it so I can lock the van without the alarm going off. Cheers! ☺

Ids is fords own diagnostic system,it read in depth any faults on your van helps to diagnose the problems if properly understood can clear the faults and programme keys update software etc. As far as your locks are concerned the sliding door can have problems with the connections on the door and pillar also the lock can be at fault as it has to be seen to be latched for the alarm system to work so check your connections and see if it helps the pads should be clean and the spring loaded pin should move freely in and out try some very fine grade emery paper or switch cleaning lubricant

Thanks. I will have a go. The plate is riveted on tue door pillar so would i need to remove this? And the 3 pin thing do i check this by removing the door card. The door was sticking as in when pulling the handle the door wasn't opening even though unlocked would open on second try.
Thanks again for your advice

Okay. Cleaned up the contact plate on the pillar and the 3 pins on the door. No luck. So I cleaned up the catch and lubed it. Still no luck. Not sure about removing the contact plate and pin bit myself to check. So is there a by pass so I can lock the van without the alarm going off? And turn the beep off on the dash til I can get it booked in to a garage. Should I order the contact plate and pin bit anyway if the originals have to removed they may as well be replaced if they are not too expensive. Thanks
