Transit 2011 2.2 Luton Lack of power

Postby Tribalfire » Sat Mar 25, 2017 4:16 pm

Hiya I have just purchased a Transit 2011 2.2 Luton, and second day I drove it i noticed a lack of power as if the turbo wasnt working. I took it to a garage and they tested it and said there was and error with the fuel and the air...

I asked them to replace fuel filter and air filter but when changing the fuel filter they said that there was metal fillings in the filter and when I asked about cost etc all I got was a lot of sucking through teeth and " we dont know till we investigate more but its not going to be cheep" hinting that its probably the fuel pump breaking up.

It was still running ok just no power, it seems to be running on all cylinders and no misfiring etc, so can anyone shed a bit more light on possible outcomes

will injectors be ok?

will the whole system need cleaning?

can I get away with just a new pump and filter?

any help or advise greatly received

how easy is this to do the work myself?

It was purchased from a dealer who said it had 6 months warranty but gave me no documentation just said get the work done and pay for it and he will send me a cheque????

but the amount of sucking through teeth from the garage has worried me somewhat

any help or advise greatly received

Have you had the codes read..??

These pumps are usually pretty reliable....could just be something simple.
