Vantuner, Martyn is a trusted friend of myself, and many others on here, he has remapped all my vans, and it was immediately obvious, and I've never had an issue with any of them. He writes his own maps, rather than down load generic ones, and his customer service is the best in the business
It's worth the drive to go to him.
Trust me, I'm from Perth!

By the way, I can't help out much with Transit advice, but I can with gardening or growing plants, so if I can give something back in this area, please ask me in a PM or post it on non-transit talk, let me know it's there :D

Thanks bjt, that's something I'll think about.

I just asked Ford about this issue and if the gearbox is wrong, and they advised to go to a local Ford dealer.

So all I'm worried about is that they charge me a whole load of money for not much. What do you say, should I go to them (it'll be Sky Ford in Watford), or do you recommend someone else local to Watford, Herts?

I've just done some driving around with a full van and 2 rather heavy passengers, and it did seem to have quite a lot more pull than before, but the 3rd/4th gear 30mph problem remains.

I think your problem with 30 mph 3rd 4th gear issue is a transit thing, mines the same 30 in 3rd, 35-40 in 4th, what ratio is your gearbox mine 4.54, I don't find it an issue unless and stuck behind someone doing bang on 30 then its annoying. N

I wouldn't waste your time. Ford will have zero interest in a 17 year old van, unless you know its full history, who knows how many times the gearbox has been changed?

How would I find out the ratio of my gearbox? What does the figure mean? Is it the ratio of each gear to the next one?

Thanks Ned.

It says my axle ratio is 4.54, nothing about the gearbox.

Are all Transits like this at 30mph but we kind of just don't take any notice of it?

Same as mine 4.54, and mine does the same as yours at 30, I think that's how they are but i could be wrong. N

Really..?? What do you intend to do??

Ford will do nothing to help for your 17 year old van.
