Lack of power

Postby digitaldecor » Sat Apr 22, 2017 5:13 pm

Hi all,
Recently blanked my egr valve on my mk7 2.2 110 and it drove fine but as expected light came on then a few weeks later van drove like crap, no power, stuttering especially when cold and wouldn't rev over about 2000 rpm. Presumed that van had gone into limp mode so have reconnected egr valve but van is the same as though turbo is not working or fuel starvation. My question is does it go back to normal or do I have to have codes cleared or will it get better the more it's driven or could it be something else. I have noticed today air bubbles flowing through the plastic fuel pipe from the filter would this be the problem or do they all do this?
Thanks

Are there any warning lights? Did the original warning light go away when unblanking the EGR?

It was the engine management light and it's still on.

Fuel pipe should not have air bubbles. Did you take off the fuel filter? And mabee re-attach it cross threaded or mabee kinked the seal as this can happen and when it does it lets air into the fuel line also check the bleed nipple is tight on the fuel filter

No had a new fuel filter fitted about six months ago but it was fine after that but tonight I loosened the water drain on the bottom to see if anything came out and nothing did but could hear a hiss of air and after tightening it again it's now nearly undrivable like it's running out of fuel. Might have another filter fitted see how it goes.

Sounds like air has got into the filter when draining the water separator, try bleeding the filter.

Yes bleed the filter with a hand priming pump that way you can be sure of no air in the fuel pump

Thanks, problem started way before I tried to drain the filter though so I think I have and air leak problem to find. Strange as it starts and runs fine up to 2000 rpm under load then power drop
