Side Door does not always open

Postby swedishlady » Tue Apr 25, 2017 8:26 am

Hi,

Have posted about this before; basically, my side door does not open with the key fob. However, if I push on the lower rear of the side door it unlocks fine.

Someone suggested to replace the rollers - of which i have; it's got better but still a problem.

An auto lock smith said it's probably the 3 pin connector (on the side door, the pins are spring loaded) we tried to clean but he is convinced this needs replacing.

Problem is, what is this part called for me to order one!?

cheers

Also the catch may be in need of adjustment. By pushing door you take the load off the lock mechanism!

Close the door almost but open enough to look and see if the contacts on door meet the van side .
If you are confident they all meet up and the contacts are all clean bright metal then look to adjusting the door catch on rear end of door about half way up. Not the door bit though try to see if the pin in the van body has moved causing the door to drop a few mm ? My side door used to stick when closing and was not flush so had to move the pin on van body. Can also adjust the lower strap on the rolller too

Hi, I had / have a similar problem, a panel beater friend said it was more to do with door adjustment than the contacts, the release part of the lock is maybe getting weak and cant unlock it, so I backed off the adjustment, (the latch bit at the back of the door opening), gave everything I could get to a good spray of Inox, (like WD40) works like a charm most of the time now.
