I have ford transit 2.2 mk7 . A while ago I had a fault appear on my clock cluster, which I still cant solve. Some of the icons remain lit when the engine is running and the lcd is showing dashes while the speedo is not working. Further, I have noticed I don't have the hill assist brake working either.
I took the van to a local garage that do my servicing. They claimed I needed a new EGR valve and duly replaced it. Unfortunately the fault with the lights remains. They claim that the two incidents were unrelated and just coincidence. A week later, I also needed a new alternator, which again the garage claimed was unrelated and just coincidence. When I asked why the lights were still lit on the clock cluster they advised that it was likely a fault with the cluster itself and should be replaced. My bill to this point was already around £450. So before replacing the clock cluster I researched on the internet and sent the cluster to an electronics company in the West Midlands who have specialist equipment for testing the clock. They tested it twice and found no faults with the cluster. So I've refitted it and am currently continuing to use the van with the cluster warning lights lit.
I should also point out that the garage state that there is no faults showing on the ODB (I think that's what its called) readout. This is a list of the issues:
ORANGE ENGINE BLOCK LIT
ORANGE ANTI SKID LIT
ORANGE ABS LIT
RED EXCLAMATION CIRCLE LIT
LCD PANEL SHOWING DASHES ONLY - NO NUMBERS
SPEEDO NOT WORKING
HILL ASSIST BRAKE NOT WORKING
I am a long distance courier and have done hundreds of miles with the faults to date. The engine runs well. Since the EGR was fitted I have noticed a juddering or lack of smooth control of the throttle at just above idling, especially noticeable between 3rd and 4th gear or when stopping and starting in traffic queues.
I am willing to pay for the repair to be done. But I don't have a bottomless pocket for repairs that seem not related. So I am turning to these forums for a little bit of help before I take it back to the garage. Could anyone with a reliable knowledge of the electronics of a Transit offer me some suggestions as to what might be causing the lights to remain lit please?
I really appreciate the help.
