Transit MK6 2002 280 Fuel pump keeps blowing solenoid

Hi All,

New to the site but please please can you help?

My Mk6 2002 transit van keeps blowing the solenoid on the fuel pumps, gone through 3 now in 3 weeks.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction to look. Been in the garage but fast running out of money.

The yellow fuse under the bonnet seems to be alright but the electric box on the pump breaks down. I then get the code B2139. P1608. P1664.

Just get another recon pump

Will be cheaper then throwing money at solinoids

No, been getting recon pumps, and each one has packed up. My van is doing something to them and I'm lost and so is the garage. Going to do a direct live with fuse in to pump to try and save this one.

Been fitting recon pumps, van would run for a hour or 2 then just stop and the pump is knackered?????

Has anyone checked the running voltage of the alternator Maybe it's producing too many volts and blowing the pump module

I did check the wiring that ran around the starter, pulled it all back and check for chaffing, all looked good. I placed a multi meter and checked for 12v at pump and got that. I'm a bit lost from there.

I said in my first post it's blowing the solenoid, not sure if that's the right bit but the electric part of the fuel pump it seems to kill.

All started from a flat battery, placed a new battery on and that was flat a day later. Now I have had 3 fuel pumps and the 4th on its way, new cam chain and fuel filter.

Hope that fitting a new live with in-line fuse direct to pump will save it. Now up to what I paid for the van trying to fix it in a matter of 6 months owning it.
