ANYONE ELSE GOT THIS PROBLEM

Postby bigholty » Sat Apr 29, 2017 12:19 am

Since having the pump learn etc done ,i now have anti stall.....its playing up something rotten ...
sit at lights awaiting to pull away the revs are going up to 1200 rpm then dropping , then back up again ...put my foot on the brake and its just sits at idle , sometimes it does it without even being in gear ?? foot on brake it stops touch the clutch and it sometimes works as it should , other times it just raising and lowering the revs ...no other problems seems to be there ...
any ideas ????

Sounds like the scv might be on its way out. Although saying that I would more expect a hunting rather than a surge.

Lifting clutch raises revs a touch .poss switch issue there or pedal at sweet spot just a mm from switch operating threshold??(eg at a junctiin where you gave way poss on a wee inclung?)
My mk7 had the hunting idle thing but drove fine all day every day... fords always did updates every service still did it.

My 60 plate 140 2.4 does the same, worst imeadiately after start up and gets better as it warms up - which makes me think SCV(?).

Even when warm, if you hold the clutch at the point of biting i.e. hillstart, the revs are contantly up and down. Fiddling with the clutch switch has made it better, but it's still a pain in the arse.

Me old Mk6 had none of this silly behaviour, let the clutch out in 1st at idle and it would just serenely roll forwards, this one lurches about the place in a most unseemly manner .....

Dmf issue? Seem to stall my mk7 and now custom st the most surprising of times when maneuvering where as with ikder van could just ride the bite to edge back or forwards whilst turning .
These newer vans are a bit poo in that respect...

Had a similar issue on a caddy van once, might be the same issue - nothing to lose giving it a go!. On the brake pedal there is a switch, remove and reset and put back in again, you reset by allowing to open then out it back in position. They get knocked through braking apparently. Had the same symptoms though.

Certain soft ware version of anti stall are more obvious than others, my 2010 2.4 115 had a very noticeable rev raise of up to 1200rpm when raising the clutch

I used to stall my mk7 not always but certainly when there was 3 lots of traffic at a T junction and i was doing a quick manoeuvre :?

I updated the software which added anti stall and i loved it.
The point of it (which we know) is to Rev the engine just when it thinks we are going from clutch and brake to bite and accelerate, bit like hill launch assist i suppose.

If any of the brake/Clutch switches are out of whack then i guess that could confuse it.

That's before including pto or dodgy software

Your revs should rise with the brake switch, not drop. Its'the brake switch that initiates the process. If it didn't. your revs would go up every time you change gear. Which is what is happening, yes?

No the only problem i have is the revs go up and down when the clutch is pressed down , without moving the pedals it goes from tickover to 1200 rpm then back down , its will go up and down without moving the pedal its like its hunting.. ..touch the brake pedal and the revs drop to 800 rpm and stay still.
