Fast flashing indicator

Postby Driveconvert » Sat Apr 29, 2017 10:03 am

Hi All

I have a 2006 (MK7) LWB HT RWD Transit

The other day I pulled over and turned off the engine before cancelling the indicator, when I started the van a few minuets later the LH indicator on the dash was flashing very fast and my thinking was a bulb had gone. So I had a look and yes the rear LH indicator was not working so I checked the bulb (the old one is still ok) but I changed it anyway but that one is not working as well? all the other LH indicators are working all be it flashing just as fast as the light on the dash.
Looking at the fuse board there seems to be just one fuse for the indicator? and there is nothing else going on that I can tell...

But I just can not think what it could be?

Thanks for that I did not think of pulling it all apart. When I did I found all this...

It looks like I need to find a new light cluster, unless that can be cleaned up?

It's not worth cleaning up, not when a new one is less than £9, you'll only have the same problem again later.

I've had those lamp holders (and lenses too) from TPUK, and they are fine.

Thanks guys, I was thinking of cleaning it up but given I am not going to be driving the van until next weekend I might as well get a new one and then know it is going to be fine.

Thanks for your help

When you get the new light bulb holder, put some Vasoline on the contacts, as it repels water and stops corrosion.
