Sat for 3 months after the 3 months that van would only give a single click when trying to start after I freed the engine using another van and a tow rope 3rd gear the engine now rotates quite easily . That's why I am assuming the engine was only semi see the due to easy start being used and the fact it was sitting for 3 months
A new starter is not gonna fix the fuel pump  Has the pump been changed or the codes read :?: The engine may not have turned over because the alternator was seized from lying up ( does happen quite a lot ) Ps most of us are here to help so go easy on the miracle

The starter isnt hard to swap, but you will need a socket set to make it easier, and make sure the battery is disconnected first

If loot was trying to save me time he wouldn't have told me to tell it in 3rd Gear when I've already done that . I'm holding out for an actual expert to get back to me fingers crossed

in fairness, you didnt say you had tried to start it, only towed it and "freed" the engine to rotate

My interpretation is that he freed it off by towing it but at no point did it run and it had previously been filled with easy start, so it's looking like the starter is not the main problem.

Just a quick question? Why would easy start seize the engine? I have used it many years in the winter months and my engine has never seized up.

Anyone would think Loot wasn't an ex mechanic :D N

Thanks a lot for the information that's definitely going to help

Ex mechanic being the operative word . Have you never heard of easy Start stripping out the oil from The Chambers it's very explosive and can actually damage an engine I am thinking because it was sitting for 3 months and because of the use of easy start that's why the engine will semi seized.

Before you do anything get a good battery and a decent set of jump leads and connect the battery directly to starter motor to see if its a shitty earth causing it not to spin or poss fkd solenoid...
Just ffs make sure van is outta gear!!!

Just give you an update the other day I had a man turn up experience 20 years service senior Ford technician he connected laptop up to the van and it was showing 3 codes one was ecm one was diesel pump one was immobiliser he reprograms everything and now I have no fault code showing at all so if it is diesel pump that's bad it's a mechanical issue not an electronic issue because after he cleared all codes he checked to see if any more come up and they did not . When I put the key in the ignition and turn it on the van tells me it's good to go LED turns off immediately no codes are flashed gun to probably fit the starter motor tomorrow. Just fitted to new batteries to her . I'm hoping she will run even if I do need a new diesel pump it's not a problem because I cannot wait to wave my magic wand at this van turn it into a luxury motorhome
