Help me pick which transit sport

Postby foxy transit » Sun May 21, 2017 12:22 am

So first one. Genuine. 6 previous owners. 73k miles. 130ps 5 speed.Look at this on eBayhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222510453334
Said he would do £6900 lowest.

Second is a replica. Not much history with it. Had the 140ps engine with 6 speed fitted to it which I like the idea f. Just needs proper sport wheels fitted and stripes removed. Lowest he will take is £5500 but is very clean

https://www.gumtree.com/p/vans/transit- ... 1237159205

And third one is genuine. 9 owners. 146k on shell but brand new engine fitted 12k ago. 130ps with 5 speed. But needs lots of tlc to sort rust. £5000

https://www.gumtree.com/p/vans/ford-tra ... 1234897868

All in I was happy to spend £7000 in total but can't decide. I need seats in rear but can do that myself. First one with low miles seems good but will things start to go wrong at that mileage?? Does the replica worthy of that money?? Is the third a rot box lol...help

I did see the mot history and asked the chap. He said when new engine was fitted he had engine mounts welded in and welded underneath areas and undersealed. Does sound a bit of a rot box that one.

any that has zero rust! , you can build it to what ever spec you want , put a 6sp box in , change the wheels etc etc but rust is an absolute cxxxt! ,
what ever you do , dont buy one that has had a history with rust i.e "repaired" {unless your happy with the price /dirt cheap} , you dont know how far they went with repairing it, rust takes a lot of time to fix and do properly and the vehicle wont ever be as good as one thats had no work done {rust free} , once you find that gem get the chassis wax oiled and under sealed..

I'd be looking for a 140 limited instead, much less likely to have been abused, and just as well specced and the same running gear

7k for a 10 year old van  A few k more you can get a couple of year old custom, I have seen 60 plate vans for 5k, not sport vans though.

Sport vans are always more expensive
It stops undesirables getting their hand on them

Well we're do I start.

Viewed the low mileage genuine one last night. 3.5 hrs on train. What a dog. Missed last train home and could only get so far home. Lucky I got good friends who came and got me. 11hrs in total I wasted and £200.

The black one my friend said is a stolen sport van with id changed. He said no way would they go to hassle of fitting 140ps engine and 6 speed. Not to mention full colour change. Upon typing reg in etis it mention no electric windows or heated screen or passenger airbag so does look dodgy.
