Side door only unlocking when its very cold.

So my side door has been dodgy for a bit, when i unlock it, it doesnt unlock properly rather than the normal loud clunk its quieter. It works almost perfectly in winter when it was cold and now it will hardly ever work I can eventually get it open sometimes by using the key in the door rather than the fob. Ive tried obvious things such as cleaning the contacts but my main question is what would cause it work great in the cold weather but in the warm not work at all?

Sound like the locking unit itself is at fault, and when it gets hot it causes it to stick / seize more..
