Mk6 2.4 RWD fueling issue.

Postby Marklong » Fri May 26, 2017 11:22 am

Hello all.

I've got a 03 tipper, 2.4 di RWD 90.

I broke down last week and had to get the as out, fuel was low and pulling into the garage the van just cut out, managed to make it to the pump and put £25 in the tank. Tried to start it and there was just clicking from the starter.

The aa came out and tried to bleed it, he could get it to go for a few seconds but then it just died, he read the codes and these came up
.Patrol found the following fault code/s:System : Engine control 2 - 53C / EEC5-2 EDC VP30/VP44P1563 - Injection pump. Error Message : Engine stop.P1664 - Injection pump. Error Message : Faulty operation.P0335 - Crankshaft position sensor. Error Message : Malfunction.

I got recovered back to my unit, I have changed the crankshaft shaft sensor. Still no joy, I tried bleeding file cracked off injectors and as I try and start the van there is a pool of fuel on the top of the engin.
I'm a bit stuck and needing advice on what to do next?

Thanks,
Mark

code 1664 is usually injection pump failure.

Although it is possible that the wiring to the pump could be damaged, that tends to affect fwd rather than rwd.

I thought 90's had a VP30 pump rather than a VP44 but the aa code reader might not know how to tell them apart.

Have a read here

There should be a link off that page to the checks on the wiring.
mk7 08reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD
mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small
