Is it a knocking noise,

All the time while driving,
Only when going over bumps,
When accelerating,
When braking,
Only when cornering left or right,

Have you looked underneath for anything obvious like broken leaf springs/mounts, exhaust knocking against the bottom of the van etc.

Check the spare wheel is not loose theres a tightening screw on the inner cill of the r/h/s back door in a hole that sometimes has a bolt in it

its mainly when going over bumps. looked under and all looks ok but when the van is unloaded - there is nothing

It could be the spare wheel carrier which due to having no weight in it is knocking when the van is moved.

It could be the shock absorbers .... or rear leaf springs lost tension and stopper hits the axle when going over bumps .
