MK7 2.4 RWD Axle Ratio`s and Paint Code Questions

Postby MB15 » Sun May 28, 2017 7:29 pm

Evening Guys

Quick question on the search for a new van..

What`s the best axle ratio out of the below vans?
Also the colour looks the same from the photos but it`s listed as different on Etis?

(Ex Scottish Water Fleet)
*TRANSIT - 115PS - RWD - 2.4cc (2011)
6 Speed with a 3.73 Axle Ratio - Colour: Avalon (Blue)

OR

*TRANSIT - 115PS - RWD - 2.4cc (2011)
6 Speed with a 4.27 Axle Ratio - Colour: Tonic Metallic (Blue)

Depends on what you need the van for..??

If just plodding around with little load, go for the 3.73....if you need to carry a decent load go for the 4.27.

Fleet vehicles that are painted in special colours have the wrong colour listing on etis, rac vans were listed as yellow, AA vans were listed as silver!

Speed limiter can be removed easily via IDS...many chaps on here can do it...depends on where you are??

The 2012 2.2 125ps RWD...I see it's a Euro-5 too..

Thanks Knobby
Is Euro-5 a good or bad thing ?

I found out what the wee warning light means - It's saying brake pads are low
Which ties in with the shaking of the steering wheel when braking
(Warped disks)
Seams to be a few sizes so I'll strip it first then go to motor factors.

Buy branded parts that you have heard of, unbranded crap won't last five minutes and you'll be changing them again

Thanks Ake - Yeah the old saying buy cheap buy twice

I got her on the ramp today,
The pads and carrier are off but i need to get some 10x100mm bolts to push the bearing/disk off from behind,
Few different sizes of disks/pads which is annoying - Rather know the right size so i`m not buying the wrong parts

If i buy a cheap version of IDS can i remove the 62mph limiter myself?
Thinking it would be handy for reading codes in the future too

Cracking van just need to get it sorted before swapping my insurance over
Fair upgrade from my Swb 75ps

That's some pretty neat set up in the back, what was the van formerly used for?
Your local auto factor should be able to tell you which discs n pads you need (unless its halfrauds then you'll end up with 16" wiper blades) N

It was a water authorities van (Scottish Water)
Aye a cracking setup in the rear

Got the disks off today , They turned out to be 300mm diameter
(I`ll grab the bits when in town tomorrow)

Cheers Guys
