Sliding door won't open.

Postby Polly13 » Mon May 29, 2017 12:23 pm

My sliding door won't open.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the central locking system, because when I disconnect the wiring from the central locking component in the sliding door itself, the system works fine on the other doors. However, when it's connected, it doesn't work properly on any of them.

So, how can we open the door manually, in order to fix it?

I always thought the sliding door takes power and signal from the rear door lock, but I could be mistaken. If you hold the blue button on the fob, do the back doors unlock?

Mk6 or Mk7 ?

Reconnect everything.

Lean on the outside of the side door at it's rear end while pushing the remote button to unlock.

It could be dirty contacts or a lock that need lubricating.

mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

There should be a black knob towards the back of the sld, this is the lock knob, turning it should allow the door to be locked/unlocked manually.

Try cleaning the pins and contact plate on the sld.

Also if you have barn rear doors check the wiring look where it goes from the body into the door, it is common for them to break inside the plastic.

When the sliding door is disconnected, yes.

I was just about to suggest that, as that's what I have to do with mine

No sign of any knob. Took a photo but dunno how to attach it :/

Not the bed picture but where this Black knob is there should be a slot it goes into, you can use a flat head screwdriver to turn the lock.

Unless the mechanism is missing. N

No sign of the knob. I think the bit circled in yellow is where it's supposed to be...
