Brakes

Postby ally69jack » Mon May 29, 2017 6:05 pm

I have a Ford Transit Trend 2011 which has a lot of extras. It has done 108000 miles and the clutch has almost gone. I have a new clutch sitting just waiting on my mechanic fitting it for me. My problem now is the ABS and ESP lights have now come on, I did recently have to top up the brake fluid as the brake warning light came on. There are no leaks and the discs and pads should do another thousand miles. Has anyone had this before or will I need to get it tested on the Ford computer. Any ideas would be appreciated as my budget is now limited.

I have had problems with the ABS light on my Transit, which is admittedly older than your's, but it was suggested to me the if the front pads are low this can put the ABS light on. If you say it has another thousand miles on the pads this suggests to me that they are very low. It's the cheapest option to put new pads in and it's an easy job on a Transit that you could do yourself.

Brilliant I will have a look at that at the weekend. Its off the road now as the clutch has gone and I don't want to chance damaging the flywheel. The ESP light and ABS light are intermittent so I hope its as simple as pads and discs.

Make sure you check the pad sensor wires as if they have rubbed through they will possibly still put the light on even with new pads.
