Ahh..no...I think you'll find people like Martyn, (Vantuner), quite professional, he's certainly not "back street".

One thing that might be an issue for you in future is passing MOT, I believe they're going to be testing/checking for EGR fitment and operation...if it was fitted as standard at the factory, it must be there and working. Same goes for DPF's if fitted.

Didn't mean not professional knobby, just not official ford business so to speak. And as for them testing the EGR, I will just have to ride it out and see. Im lucky in that I've still got 11 month on current MOT anyway so will give me chance to sort something if it comes to it. Cheers for the info anyway mucker.

I think you can blank it but it still has to work electrically. They might be plugging into the OBD2 port to see live data etc....it shows the EGR opening % etc...
The main problem with just blanking them is they'll usually throw up overboost/underboost DTC's because the inlet manifold air flows and pressures aren't what the PCM is expecting to see.

Not real sure when it's coming in TBH :? ...I'm in Aus and we don't have that problem....there has been talk of it over there in the UK though....Some on here one will know for sure.

Hello again Transit fwends. Another wee problem which i will start another thread for but I thought I would quickly post this little one under this as its the same subject of 'whats this thingy'

When I changed my fuel filter I didn't have to disconnect the black cable from underneath nor did I hook one back in. What is the cable for that runs into the underside of the filter through the yellow nipple. My van is a Mk7 RWD 2.4 tdci 100ps LWB.

Thank you chums

Ive heard / mentioned sometime this year, same as the test to see if the dpf is working properly (Not set in stone yet).... I have heard that they are reducing the emissions test down to 0.?? % not too sure on the actual results yet on vehicles fitted with dpf's.. and we now the DVSA computer gives us information on the vehicles now, when we register a vehicle that we are testing

There'll be a lot of peeved people the UK over if the check is too stringent eh. The amount of people that have EGR blanked or the cooler fully removed is huge I'm guessing. I'll be one of them as Ive taken out the cooler and blanked both sides so it'll mean going out and buying the new part and then the reverse of the ball ache I endured taking the chuffing thing off hahaa. Cheers anyways lads.

WireThingy.jpg
Hi transit chums, another quick 'what's this thingy please'

Whats the wire bit coming out? Could this be the problem as to why my file filter is always empty? surely if the filter is to sit snug and airtight then this is going to be in the way and letting air in.

Should I just snap it off and see how I get on?
