Mk7 2.2 engine 2013...

Postby RussRST » Sat Jun 17, 2017 6:17 am

Ok I've ordered a service kit for my van and forscan cable. I had an electric window problem which I have sorted. Now working on getting the side door to open.

What I would like to know as I don't know a lot yet about these engines is on preventative maintenance. Is there anything I'm recommed to do on an engine I don't have much history on?

In regard to the oil pump, ford had a recall on (most) Euro 5's for the first few production years replacing the oil pump as a recall issue.

Ford Etis should be able to advise if it's outstanding or not.

Done this and Etis shows nothing out standing.

What's the signs to look out for, for a failing oil pump?

There are no warning signs, it'll fail and kill the engine within minutes.
If nothing shows on etis then it's been done/ not applicable

I'm getting sump replaced due to slight oil leak (not dripping, must be coming out under pressure) along with fresh oil and oil filter.

I've already swapped out the air filter.

Regardless of the fact nothing has come up in Etis about oil pump, do you think i should get garage to replace it while doing sump for peace of mind? Along with chain and tensioners or am i being too paranoid?

Van drives very well no noticeably bad noises from engine just have very little history on van.

Well thats a interesting topic as i've had to do my own research on the van as it come with little history. According to what i have found out it got a new engine, gearbox and tubro fitting by Ford in 2015. From what i've worked out the engine assuming it was new in 2015 must have done about 70k and the van about 130k

Personally I'd not be worried over cam chain etc then, Mine's at 157k with oil and filters and the oil pump recall being done. I did change the egr and have the dpf cleaned about 145k.
