Blue key programming

Postby Rob T » Tue Jun 20, 2017 11:38 am

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking for a while but this is my first post, apologies for it being a bit begging! :D
I have a 2007 Mk7 which I need a blue remote for as my central locking doesn't work, I only have one key so I'll relegate the old key to spare. If I buy a used blue fob online is anyone near the Surrey/Kent borders that can code it for me for beer tokens? I'm getting Timpsons to cut me the horseshoe for £20 but they can't code a blue fob unfortunately and my usual auto locksmith has bought himself a new Dick Turpin mask it seems

Thanks in advance

If you get forscan down loaded from the internet(free) then get a good elm327 dongle go for one with the high speed/medium speed can switch about £20 on amazon or ebay you can programme your own the latest revision of forscan can even calculate the outcode for you so no need for internet or third party providers .it also will read dtc's clear them , do pump learns programme injectors and live data so well worth a punt

That's very interesting! It would come in handy for reading DTCs as well and for that price it seems a no-brainer. Have you tested the PATS programming capability yourself?

Yeah but even the extended licence is free, just register for the forum and submit a request and you have the full licence within 24 hours.

Forscan is the business!

That's entirely up to you!
Unless there's lots of keys already programmed and there's no space for a new key

As for key programming its better to add a key first, there has been issues with some spurious fobs where the immobilizer chip didnt work .if you use the erase option on pats you need 2 working keys to complete the programming an if you only have one that works your a kinda dead in the water so to speak so if you add the new key first and confirm its good then you have 2-your good to go then if needed erase all known keys and start from scratch.I have done in exess of a dozen keys within the last month using forscan without issue the extended licence runs for 3 months at a time amd is easy to renew .If you want to beta test you get licensed for life

Also as a footnote if your buying a second hand fob from a breaker it may have been knocking about for a while and have a flat battery, these are not replacable unless youve got the correct recargable battery they are charged via the encoder ring around the ignition switch so before you programme tape the fob to the standard key switch van on ( key as close to the switch as possible and drive around or just leave the ign on .If the battery is flat it wont affect the immobiliser programming but it may have an affect on the fob buttons working

Cheers for the heads up, I've changed one of these batteries before so will probably stick a new battery in and charge up before I try to program the new one.

Does this adapter look good enough quality? I just checked for ones with Forscan suitability to be sure
