Mk7 high level brake light

Postby Andrewt » Tue Jun 20, 2017 6:30 pm

The high level brake light on my van wasn't working so investigated and found the plug to be all corroded so decided to get one and just do away with the plug and hard wire it so took my light out removed the gibbons and replaced the lens until I found another unit but went to fit the unit and now my wiring has disappeared I'm assuming is fallen down the door any ideas how to get it back up?? Iv tried a thin wire curled over like a hook but no joy also which side of the door does it run down?left side between the skins or right side between the skins??

I believe the Hi level brake lamp wiring lives in the right side of the left rear door...see here:

The wires for mine fell down into the lower part of the door so,I had to take the panel off. I used a bit of twin and earth cable to hook it and feed it back up the door

Brilliant thanks my rear doors have wood panels I took the top one off but couldn't get entry between the skins so I assume if I remove the bottom wood panel I can get access between the skins to feed a cable down and hook up the lighting wires?

Hi All,

Is there a recommended high level kit for the Mk6 high roof?

Or a roof mounted one as I have vents sticking up anyway?

Get one for a Mk7 and wire it to the brake lights. Wreckers might be a good place to start looking. Some auto parts places and fleabay sell universal jobbies which sits/sticks on the rear door glass....something like this one:
