What turbo boost pressures have you seen in transits?

Postby 4door4 » Thu Jun 22, 2017 9:33 am

I put a small boost gauge in my 2.4L 115ps while troubleshooting a problem (burst intercooler) and the reading under load was 15psi or 1bar. Wastegate seems to be working OK, and new intercooler is fine so far, so I assume this is normal. I pressure tested the second hand intercooler to 15psi before buying it, and it didn't leak.

I'm guessing the 90ps will run around half as much pressure, and I've heard the 75PS has no turbo. But I'm curious what turbo pressures the more powerful (140ps) transits are running? And how high do people go when "van tuning" or is that all done via fuel map changes?

75ps has a turbo...but no intercooler. I'm running a Mk7 2.4L 140 (remapped to 170+) and often see 22psi under load..but it has the VNT "electronic turbo actuator", no waste gate. 15psi for a 115ps is pretty normal.

It's no wonder tuning gets good results on those models. It's basically an electronic boost controller from the factory. I hadn't seen that before.

2008 Mk7 3.2 5 pot 200ps standard, but has been remapped - see 26psi under load / full throttle... it also has the VNT "electronic turbo actuator.....
