Sounds like a duff hydraulic lifter/tappet to me, or possibly a collapsed roller...have you checked them all thoroughly..!??

I have, but will check again. I had it ticking over for a good 40mins yesterday, and noise didn't occur until I revved the engine so to me it's temp or pressure related? Rocker cover is also blowing so going to have to order a seat cutter.

Do you mean the injector seats

If they're blowing, that will surely be the source of your ticking/tapping That's how mine were when the clamp bolt wasn't tight

Thank for replies. Knobby, I will inspect rockers thoroughly, is there a way of testing the hydraulic lifters? Altransit, appreciate your advice and it is re-assuring, did you listen to my vid? my injectors are tight, and I did clean the faces with some emery cloth, but they appear to still be passing so I will order a seat cutter and new washers and see where that takes me, thanks again

Update, everything is taking an age, had to wait over a week for eBay's finest seat cutter to arrive, new sealing washers and bolts ordered, washers arrived still waiting for bolts (over a week) knew I should have gone to fords but was concerned I wouldn't get the opportunity to get there so ordered off eBay genuine new bolts over a week ago. Is there a way I would know if the injectors were bad, I have previously done a leak off test which came back equal/balanced, I have also successfully completed injector and pump learns at various stages off repair using f-super. Thoughts/suggestions welcome

No long story mainly because of my inexperience, pistons now fine, engine runs really nicely, just getting a ticking/knocking noise now once warmed up or revved hard. I believe it is injector seals as the only symptom at the moment is pressure within the rocker cover, so just waiting for new clamping bolts to arrive so they can be fitted with new washers, I ask about the injectors as I was sure I read or understood it as the injector learn would fail if there was an issue with an injector?

Please watch/listen to today's vids, new injector seats cut, new injector seals and new bolts fitted, still getting pressure in rocker cover and still get an intermittent ticking, which is worse and more frequent when revved. Help please

Thanks for your reply, definitely not alternator bearing, have had van running with and without belt on and issue is always present, thanks again. - BHM- have googled leak down test, brilliant idea, do I need the correct attachment for the compressor? I am a maintenance engineer, so my initial idea is to knock up an injector shaped fitting of the lathe to fit in place of injector to allow air connection?? What pressure would be recommended/safe?
